Petersburg LIVE! February 27

This year’s edition of Petersburg LIVE arrives February 27! Artfest is being held in Craig for 2018 and you can help the students with their travel expenses by attending this event, by offering your talent through performing at the event, or by supporting PAC through your contribution to a silent dessert auction.

Ernestine Hayes, Alaska Writer Laureate

Ernestine Hayes, the current Alaska Writer Laureate is coming to Petersburg to hold two public events on January 11 and 12, 2018.

Hayes belongs to the Kaagwaantaan clan of the Tlingit nation. Current Alaska Writer Laureate, she is best known for award-winning Blonde Indian, an Alaska Native Memoir. Her latest book, The Tao of Raven, weaves narratives and reflection in the context of the story “Raven and the Box of Daylight.

An opportunity to meet Ernestine and a time to hear from her and experience her writing.

At the Petersburg Pubic Library, Thursday, January 11 at 6:30 p.m.

Writing Workshop: Writing Our Lives

Through exercises and discussion, participants draw on their own life experiences to explore personal and cultural histories. Hayes discusses elements of craft and offers insights into the writing and publishing process. Open to any writing level.

At the Petersburg Pubic Library, Friday, January 12 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Art Acquisition Fund

The Clausen Museum will apply for the Rasmusen Foundation Art Acquisition Fund grant to purchase local art this spring. If you would like your art work to be considered for purchase please provide the following by March 28, 2016:

-Letter of interest from the artist
-List of pieces available with titles, price and date of production
-Photos (photographs, digital images) of the pieces of art available for purchase
-Resume’

Please note that we will only be looking at works of art that have been produced in the last two years. We are looking at current works by local and regional artists.

If your work is chosen we will let your know immediately so you may take the piece off the market.
